Rev.Dr. Fred Deegbe

CHRISTIAN COUNCIL OF GHANA
Rev. Dr. Fred Deegbe has a diverse educational background. He graduated from the University of Ghana with L.L.B. (Bachelor of Laws) degree in 1978, the Ghana Law School with B.L. (Barrister of Law) in 1981, Southwestern Baptist Seminary in Fort Worth, TX the M.Div. (Master of Divinity) in 1986, Baylor University Medical Centre where he attained the C.P.E. (Advanced Clinical Pastoral Education) in 1988 and Asbury Theological Seminary, Wilmore, KY with D.Min. (Doctorate of Ministry).
Rev. Dr. Fred Deegbe has been the General Secretary of the Christian Council of Ghana since 2003, in addition to his current position as the Senior Pastor at the Calvary Baptist Church. He has worked as a Chaplain for Trauma, Crisis & Terminally ill Cancer Patients at Baylor University Medical Centre in Dallas, TX from 1985-1987, as a Lecturer at Ghana Baptist Seminary from 1988, 1991 and as a Senior Pastor at New Tafo Baptist Church, Kumasi from 1989-1991.
Throughout his career, he has had many opportunities to serve in varied leadership capacities and has done so faithfully as Chairman/Convenor, Baptist Church Reconciliation Talks from 1988-1992; Executive Committee, Christian Council of Ghana from 1992-1999; Finance Committee, Christian Council of Ghana from 1996, 2001; Interim President, Ghana Baptist Convention from 1992-1994 and President from 1994, 2000, 2002; Theological Education Board, Ghana Baptist Convention from 2000 to date and Chairman, Governing Council, Ghana Baptist Seminary from 2000 to date. Member, Ghana Aids Commission, Chairman, Ghana Anti-Corruption Coalition Campaign. Member, National Media Commission and President of the Fellowship of Christian Councils in West Africa (FECCIWA). He presided over the Christian Council’s organizational development exercise which has made the Council a Research based Advocacy organisation making the Council more responsive to the changing global trends and to its constituency of member churches and organisations.
Rev. Dr. Deegbe has a quest for knowledge, and has traveled throughout the world attending conferences and seminars. Adding to his many other accomplishments, Rev. Dr. Deegbe is also an author and has published three books: When Friends Fight, Building A Christian Home (Asempa) and Forgive God.
Rev. Dr. Fred Deegbe is married to Joana and they are blessed with three children.
