Rt. Rev Francis Amenu

– Vice Chairman of the Christian Council of Ghana

The Rt. Rev Francis Amenu, who hails from Ghana is the incumbent Moderator of the General Assembly of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana. He trained originally as a Mining Engineer from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology School of Mines, Tarkwa, Ghana from 1973–1976. He had his theological education in Trinity Theological Seminary, Legon – Accra, University of Ghana, Legon-Accra, 1982-1990 and Christian Theological Seminary, Indianapolis, Indiana, USA, 1995-1997. He served as a pastor of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church in various Districts and Presbyteries of the Church, 1985 – 1999 before being appointed to serve as the Ghanaian Minister in London on behalf of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana, the Presbyterian Church of Ghana and the United Reformed Church of the United Kingdom. After serving in the UK from 1999–2003, he returned to Ghana and served as a District Pastor in Madina-Accra and Adjunct Lecturer in Old Testament Studies in Trinity Theological Seminary, Legon-Accra and Evangelical Presbyterian University College, Ho/Peki. He was elected into office as the Moderator of the General Assembly of the E P Church in August, 2008 for a 6-year term. He is currently the Vice-Chairman of the Christian Council of Ghana and the Norddeutsche Mission partner churches in Germany, Ghana and Togo. He is married to Mrs. Gertrude Evelyn Amenu with four children.
