The Christian Council of Ghana (CCG), is seeking ASSISTANT PROJECT ACCOUNTANT to serve within the Programmes and Advocacy department, to support the management of UNHCR Project. This position is based in Accra.



Qualification, Skills and Experience


1. Minimum of first degree in accounting or its equivalent.

2. Minimum of three years relevant working experience. Excellent interpersonal skills, partners and client groups receiving services.

3. Experience in building collaborative partnerships with other social service providers. Computer literacy with proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, Excel etc and strong data collection and analysis competency required. Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English.



JOB DESCRIPTION

Major responsibilities of the officer will include, but not limited to:

1. Collect invoices/bills and make payments ensuring the prevailing financial rules and regulations of partners

2. Keep Financial documents and records to meet the organizational and project requirements

3. Report to DFA and Project Accountant on the financial performance on periodic basis

4. Operate bank accounts, prepare drafts and arrange for funds transfer against the payment of services and supplies as necessary

5. Calculate tax and other deductions deducted from the source while making payments

6. Preparation of periodic Bank Reconciliation statements and report to the Project Accountant.

7. Provide accounting services to the concerned, especially the status of budget and expenditure on quarterly basis as and when needed

8. Operate bank accounts, prepare drafts and arrange for funds transfer against the payment of services and supplies as necessary

9. Provide administrative support to the Project Coordinators and project team

10. Keep records of the office supplies, materials and equipment's for the project

11. Assist in the process of financial and project annual audits

12. Visit project sites as necessary to facilitate and oversee the field activities

13. Keep project staff aware and informed of changes to accounting system/structure/procedures through training/presentation

14. Keep liaison with the bank and other governmental institutions.
